George Boole (1815-1864)

George Boole was a teacher of Latin and a self-taught mathematician. In his work The Calculus of Logic he introduced his theory on symbolic logic that was the foundation for Boolean logic. Boolean logic is the basis for computer database searches and most (if not all) Internet search engines work based on Boolean logic. For indepth biographical information on Boole go to--
